About Hedonistic Costume's
Making Costumes since 2018

Slightly erratic, definitely creative and most certainly a workaholic, that's me to a tee a 25 year old sewing enthusiast called Rowena. I make my living through making and designing costumes for individuals, theatre and groups and have been for the last four years which stems from a passion for theatre and my hobby in sewing. The start in this direction I took my life started in the last term of my GCSE year when I was studying Drama. At the time me and my friends had written a short play based from work of art by the artist William Hogarth, fair to say at the time there was no way I could afford to buy or hire the 18th century costumes we needed. So with a few days before curtains up I decided to put my feet in the deep end and make a bright yellow 18th century robe a la francaise for myself and two men's period coats for my two friends. Was a bit crazy to start on considering that I had no sewing experience and couldn't work a sewing machine. But we all start somewhere and weather your a complete novice or even a very experience costume maker there is always new and exciting things to learn. with my blog I hope to give some insights in to my projects I'm making and there process and hopefully these will help others with their own makes. I'm mostly self taught and I'm always making costumes through trial and error and learning things in the process as I make garments that are historically inspired, cosplay or some times fantasy. At A levels I studied textiles which gave me a base knowledge of sewing techniques and helped me find my passion in sewing thanks to great tutors. From there I began doing a lot of my own research into costuming specifically through books, historical photos and of course the internet that over time has helped me to hone my skills and start my own shop as well as work with theatres making costumes for all kinds of genres.
